In 2017, he was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2013, he was made Associate Chief of Infectious Diseases Services for Emory University Hospital, and in 2020, he was named the Chief of Infectious Diseases at Emory University Hospital. Mehta joined the faculty of Emory University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, and as the Assistant Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Section. During his Infectious Diseases fellowship, he also completed training in Transplant Immunology. Mehta then returned to Emory for training in Internal Medicine, and then in Infectious Diseases. He returned to Oklahoma to attend medical school at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 1999-2003. He completed his undergraduate studies at Emory University, obtaining a B.S. attended Casady from grades 2-12 and graduated in 1995.
